How much does ISO 45001 cost in Australia?
ISO 45001 has three cost parts: a gap analysis, building and running the system, and the certification audit. At CWT Safety & Advisory an ISO 45001 gap analysis starts from $3,800 + GST. The certification audit is paid separately to the certification body you choose.
1. Gap analysis (from $3,800 + GST)
The gap analysis compares what you already do against each clause of ISO 45001 and shows exactly what is missing. Most businesses doing construction or high-risk work already have part of a system, such as SWMS, inductions and incident reporting. The gap analysis stops you paying to rebuild what already works.
2. Building and running the system
This covers the documents, roles, risk registers, consultation, training, internal audits and management review that ISO 45001 requires. The cost depends on the size of the gap, so CWT scopes it after the gap analysis rather than guessing up front.
3. Certification audit
Certification is done by an independent certification body, usually in two stages, followed by surveillance audits. Their fees are separate and depend on your business size and number of sites, so get quotes from more than one.
Ways to keep the cost down
Build on what you already have instead of buying a generic manual
Keep documents short and used on site, not written for the auditor
Combine ISO 45001 with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 if you need more than one, since much of the system is shared
Get a site WHS audit first if you are not sure where you stand
